From Exit to Encore: Get Real’s Second Act in Montgomery County, MD

Get Real Consultants CEO Robin Wiener is a serial entrepreneur, having co-founded not one, but two successful Montgomery County businesses. In 2001, Wiener, along with Mark Heaney and Jason Harmon, founded Get Real Health, which began as a boutique IT consulting firm and grew into a developer of patient engagement technologies. Get Real Health is a true Montgomery County success story: it started in the Montgomery County Business Incubator program—a decision that Wiener says one of the “smartest moves we made”—and later grew to 60 full-time employees, which Wiener explains were drawn heavily from the local, highly-skilled talent pool. In 2019, Wiener led the effort for Get Real Health to be acquired by CPSI, major EMR company, for $11 million. “This exit was a win not just for us as founders, but for the Montgomery County tech ecosystem, proving that the County is a world-class environment for building and selling high-value companies,” explains Wiener.

Reinvesting in Montgomery County

In 2025, Wiener and her partners, Mark Heaney and Jennifer Bowers decided to reinvest in Montgomery County by founding Get Real Consultants, which provides healthcare software development and technology services to organizations across the country, including healthcare providers, life sciences companies, government health agencies, healthtech companies, and wearable & medical devices manufacturers, around the world.

The firm specializes in quickly assembling the right mix of experts to tackle critical challenges, then seamlessly transitioning solutions to in-house teams. That flexibility is paired with experience. “Our team has decades of experience in connecting Health IT systems and delivering technical software solutions on time and on budget,” explains Wiener.

Based in Rockville, Get Real has four core employees, in addition to a collection of consultants and experts the company works with, and is currently in a growth phase. Over the next year, the company is laying the groundwork for its 2026 Health IT Initiative, which will allow them to partner with major healthcare players to streamline their IT efforts. For this initiative, Wiener and the Get Real team will be drawing on their expertise gained from founding and growing Get Real Health to solve the complex digital challenges facing the health sector today.

For Wiener, Heaney, and Bowers, the decision to build the company in Montgomery County was rooted in both experience and opportunity. “Montgomery County has been our home from the start,” Wiener says. “Having built a previous company here, we experienced firsthand how instrumental local government support is for scaling a business. Montgomery County provides us with unparalleled access to some of the world’s largest and most profitable companies, creating a premier environment for strategic partnerships.”

That combination of access, infrastructure, and support continues to shape the company’s growth. Wiener points to what she calls the County’s “Three Pillars”: “Location, Support, and Talent.” Proximity to major healthcare and life sciences organizations, federal agencies, and a highly educated, diverse workforce has positioned Get Real Consultants to compete on a global stage.

Get Real Consultants remains deeply committed to continuing to scale and thrive in Montgomery County. “As this is our second venture in the County, we are confident that our future lies here. Our experience has shown that Montgomery County supports companies from the ground up,” explains Wiener. “Being based here gives us a competitive edge due to our proximity to Washington, D.C., access to established global corporations, and a local government that is truly committed to fostering innovation.” With a seasoned leadership team, a growing client base, and a clear vision for the future of healthcare technology, Get Real Consultants exemplifies how Montgomery County continues to be a launchpad for innovative companies solving global challenges.
