Four Montgomery County Companies Raised Over $117 Million In August
Four Montgomery County companies in the food manufacturing, life sciences, and insurance technology industries raised $117.66 million in venture capital funding during the month of August.
In the County’s food manufacturing sector, Rockville-based Jesse & Ben’s, a manufacturer of healthier frozen French fries, raised $15 million in Series A venture funding in August. The investment follows recent news that the company closed an oversubscribed Series A financing round. Jesse & Ben’s products can be found nationwide at stores including Sprouts Farmers Market, Whole Foods, Target, and Costco. The company, which is redefining the frozen potato category, grew more than 1,100% in 2025 and is expected to grow another 300% to 400% in 2026.
Two life sciences companies also received funding to help advance their work developing treatments for patients nationwide.
Gaithersburg-based Cerium Pharmaceuticals raised $750,001 in venture funding in August. The company, which has 4 employees, focuses on developing medicines for patients with rare diseases, including pediatric and extremely rare conditions.
Gaithersburg-based Georgiamune, a clinical-stage biotechnology company with almost 30 employees focused on developing treatments for cancer and autoimmune diseases, raised $92.69 million through a combination of Series B1 and Series B2 venture funding, putting the company’s pre-money valuation at $296.31 million. The financing was led by Prevail Private Capital and Mubadala Capital, with participation from other investors.
In the insurance technology sector, Bethesda-based Ensurise raised $9.22 million in venture funding. The company supports independent insurance agencies throughout the Mid-Atlantic, providing flexible models designed to support agency growth, transactions, and succession planning.
