The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) Statement on the Formation of the Potomac Regional Alliance

Today, Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) President & CEO Jared Smith released the following statement regarding the formation of the Potomac Regional Alliance, a new initiative aimed at strengthening the long-term competitiveness, resilience, and growth of the Greater Washington area:

“The creation of the Potomac Regional Alliance is an important step toward building a stronger region and economy. Our jurisdictions are deeply connected, and the decisions we make and the investments we attract, have an impact well beyond our individual borders.

The Potomac Regional Alliance gives us an opportunity to work more intentionally across those boundaries, identify opportunities for collaboration, and strengthen our collective ability to compete for businesses, investment, and talent. What we hear from large investors and corporate clients is that they often look at Greater Washington as a region first, and individual jurisdictions come later in the decision-making process. That means we need to think and compete regionally if we want to capture investments and jobs that will drive our economic future.
