JumpLights: A Shining Example of Innovation in Montgomery County, Maryland

JumpLights is a leading manufacturer of ultra high-efficiency LED lighting systems tailored specifically for horticultural applications. From lettuce farms to ornamental flower nurseries across North America, JumpLights designs and assembles lights that help growers increase their yields and profits while also reducing environmental impact.

JumpLights had a record-breaking year in 2024 and shows no sign of slowing down—the company grew its revenue by more than 10X last year and is on track for another stellar year in 2025. Additionally, JumpLights recently launched its new breakthrough light for greenhouse and indoor cultivation – the ETS MAX. The revolutionary new light aims to increase lighting efficiency and support better return on investment (ROI) for commercial cultivators.

The company’s impressive growth trajectory has not gone unnoticed, and it has been recognized many times as a leading company in Maryland. In 2025, JumpLights received the Maryland Tech Council’s Emerging Company of the Year ICON award and in 2023, it was awarded a $125,000 investment from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute.

Founded in a Silver Spring garage in 2016 by two Montgomery County residents, Paul Song and Matteo del Ninno, JumpLights is the definition of a home-grown business. JumpLights moved into a larger office in Germantown in 2024 from their prior space in the Gaithersburg Air Park and is now searching for an even larger office space. Aaron Lichtig, Vice President of Marketing at JumpLights, explains that being based in Montgomery County has been a strategic advantage for the company. The county’s talent pool has enabled the company to build a strong, mission-driven team. Currently they employ  10 Montgomery County-based employees and a small number of remote staff.

With its roots firmly planted in Montgomery County, JumpLights continues to break new ground in horticultural lighting and is a shining example of the type of innovation happening every day in the county. As JumpLights scales to meet demand and pushes the boundaries of LED light fixture efficiency with the ETS MAX, its future looks brighter than ever.
