New Video Series Provides Platform for Community to Tell the MoCo Story

Rockville, Md. —  The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) will launch a year-long video campaign, We Are Montgomery County, sharing the many engaging stories that collectively make Montgomery County (MoCo) one of the premier places in the country to live and do business.

“Montgomery County is a diverse tapestry of remarkable people, places, ideas, and innovation, and we want to share that story,” said MCEDC CEO David Petr.

Petr was tapped ten months ago to lead the new public/private partnership whose mission is to work with business, government and community leaders to retain, attract and grow business in Montgomery County.

“As I’ve traveled throughout the County meeting business leaders, entrepreneurs and residents, I have heard so many powerful and inspiring stories about what makes Montgomery County special,” noted Petr. “I wanted to find a platform to share the many compelling narratives, and what better way than through a diverse and larger-than-life video series.”

The video series, in production now and launching in early August, will highlight 365 business and community leaders, educators, students and residents, who will unveil Montgomery County’s diverse assets from their point of view. Together, the videos will tell the larger story about the County’s unique positioning in the region, the nation and globally as one of the premier places to live and work.

The videos are an outgrowth of the in-depth, business-focused “Think Success” videos. The We Are Montgomery County videos expand on this concept and provide a larger platform to tell the MoCo story in a way that extends our Think Success videos,” said Petr.

Petr added, “MCEDC provides a strong support system to drive business growth whether someone wants to start, expand or relocate a business in MoCo. But we understand that people don’t just use their heads when selecting where to do business. They also use their heart.”

Petr noted that a welcoming, diverse community, ideally situated in the Mid-Atlantic region, with the most educated workforce in the country, top schools, easy access to three international airports and an expansive mass transit system, are all part of the equation that makes Montgomery County unique. It is also home to 18 federal agencies, a phenomenal arts and cultural scene, and a prime location with proximity to the nation’s capital.

“We look forward to telling our story, and what better way than through the perspectives of those who live and work in Montgomery County.”
