William Cucufate

Lead Generation Specialist

William Cucufate serves as a Lead Generation Specialist on the Business Development team, where he supports targeted research, data analysis, and outreach to strengthen Montgomery County’s business attraction efforts and build a robust pipeline of prospective companies.

William began his career at the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation as an Economic Development Specialist Assistant, where he focused on supporting startups in the life sciences industry at the Rockville and Germantown Innovation Centers. In this role, he researched and identified prospective companies, maintained key databases, and collaborated with senior directors to advance attraction strategies. He also helped organize the inaugural InnovateED Summit, a co-hosted event with the Universities at Shady Grove designed to strengthen the region’s talent pipeline by uniting academia, government, and industry.

Recently, William served as Grant Manager for the Town of Berwyn Heights, where he secured more than $300,000 in competitive public funding. His efforts led to the planting of over 150 trees to restore canopy lost during a 2022 windstorm, multiple grants to advance police department equipment and enhance public safety, as well as funding for the creation and improvement of public green spaces within underserved communities, providing residents with healthier, more vibrant places to connect with nature.  During his tenure, he also obtained funding to revitalize the Berwyn Heights Elementary School recreation area with new courts and playgrounds, addressing facilities that had not been improved since 2001 and creating a safer, more engaging environment for children, families, and community gatherings.

Earlier in his career, William contributed to the City of Mount Rainier’s Department of Economic Development, where he supported business retention and neighborhood revitalization efforts that strengthened commercial corridors and connected small businesses with the broader community. He did so while also pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts and General Studies  with concentration in Humanities at Prince George’s Community College.
