Navigating Federal Budget Cuts: Resources & Support for Montgomery County Businesses and Workers

Recent federal budget cuts have had a significant impact on residents and businesses in Montgomery County, Md. As home to 18 federal agencies, Montgomery County plays a critical role in the federal workforce. An estimated 48,400 residents hold federal jobs, while 77,000+ residents work in federal employment or contracting roles.
These changes create uncertainty not only for individuals but also for the local business community that depends on federal funding and contracts. Recognizing these challenges, Montgomery County and the State of Maryland have mobilized key resources to support affected businesses and workers.
“Right now, we’re all focused on supporting federal employees, contractors and others impacted by these changes at the federal level,” shared County Executive Marc Elrich.
Along with our partners, we remain committed to helping our local business community navigate these changes.
