Montgomery County Representatives Gather at SelectUSA to Attract Foreign Investment

During the week of May 12, delegates and representatives from the state of Maryland and Montgomery County attended the 2025 SelectUSA Investment Summit, the premier event in the United States dedicated to promoting foreign direct investment. Hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce, SelectUSA, which took place in Maryland this year, connects investors, companies, economic development organizations, and industry experts to facilitate business investment in the United States. This year, the Summit drew a record crowd, with more than 5,500 attendees from over 100 international markets and 54 states and territories.

During the conference, Maryland delegates and representatives, including Maryland State Governor Wes Moore and Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, were able to meet with potential international investors to discuss why global companies choose Maryland and Montgomery County, including the strong talent pipeline and close proximity to strategic partners such as the FDA, NIH, and NIST.

Located near three different international airports, as well as many international community organizations, Montgomery County is home to four out of ten of the most diverse cities in the nation, including Germantown, Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, and Rockville. The county’s diverse business ecosystem plays a major role in not only attracting international companies to the area, but helping their employees feel at home.

Foreign companies also find that Montgomery County incentives are highly supportive tools to help grow their businesses and help them scale or reach global customers, whether they consider the State’s Global Gateway Program or local incentives like the MOVE Grant, which is available to both new and existing businesses in the county and allows qualified companies signing a commercial lease to receive up to $150,000 in grants for new office space.  Additionally, the Montgomery County Job Creation Fund offers businesses with company headquarters, or companies in one of the County’s target industries, up to $10,000 for each new full-time, permanent job with a base salary of $100,000. From financial incentives to ties with local international communities, Montgomery County, Md., is a haven for foreign businesses across all industries.
