Rockville, Md. — The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) announced today that it has launched a first-of-its-kind, innovative year-long video campaign, We Are Montgomery County, to share the stories of what makes Montgomery County one of the most dynamic and exciting locations to live in and do business regionally, nationally, and internationally.

The idea for the campaign was the brainchild of MCEDC President and CEO David Petr, who was tapped nearly one year ago to reinvent economic development in Montgomery County. Petr’s vision was to tell the county’s incredible story from the perspective of the hundreds of business owners of all sizes, along with county resource providers and community members, in a significant initiative that has never before been undertaken.

“I challenged the staff to come up with an aggressive campaign that would excite, amaze, and put Montgomery County on the map, and they have delivered,” said Petr.

“We have taken the topic of economic development and delivered it in a bold, fresh new way that encourages people to care about the exciting innovation happening in our county,” continued Petr. “When you watch these videos, you can’t help but to be excited in hearing people’s personal stories and their passion for our county. The tremendously positive response we have received from the community so far has been overwhelming.”

The first six videos were launched today at MoCo365.com. Each Monday, seven new videos will be posted to the website. In total, the campaign will showcase 365 stories through 365 videos.

“The American Dream is alive and thriving in Montgomery County,” says Petr. “We are inches from the capital of the free world and home to the smartest workforce. Our community is welcoming and diverse, with 33 percent of our residents foreign born. All of these things are coming together to drive innovation and entrepreneurial success.”
