Montgomery County, Md – Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) will celebrate Economic Development Week (EDW) in Maryland, Oct. 23-27, by placing a spotlight on why Montgomery County is the premier place to start and grow a business. MCEDC President & CEO Bill Tompkins and members of MCEDC’s Business Development team will visit MoCo businesses in targeted industries during the week. County Executive Marc Elrich will also issue proclamations for the selected businesses, celebrating their contributions to the county. “Montgomery County’s business sector is the envy of the region,” Elrich said. “Life Sciences, Hospitality Tech, innovative start-ups, and a flourishing small business sector help to put our county on the map and are key to our local economy. Over the course of Economic Development Week, we will spotlight a small sample of these incredible businesses and thank them for being part of the Montgomery County success story.” “You can measure the success of a region by the success of its businesses, and that’s what we want to reinforce during Economic Development Week in Maryland,” Tompkins said. “The companies we are highlighting provide a snapshot of our diverse business community, and we want to ensure that all businesses in Montgomery County, and those that are looking to locate here, have the tools and resources to be successful.” Every year, EDW in Maryland seeks to demonstrate how economic development transforms lives through the dedicated work of economic developers who impact counties, cities and towns throughout Maryland. An initiative of the Maryland Economic Development Association, events and activities hosted during the week by various organizations statewide, including MCEDC, are designed to increase an understanding of economic development’s contribution to the state’s business climate, job retention and growth and the tax base in Maryland.
