June 27 commercialization showcase to be held at new ETC TechFire® incubator in White Oak

Rockville, Md. — The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) will co-host an event for business owners, prospective entrepreneurs and federal researchers to explore technologies available for license and other R&D partnership and commercialization opportunities with scientists and engineers from the Army Research Laboratory (ARL). The June 27 technology showcase will be held at the Energetics Technology Center’s (ETC) new TechFire® incubator in White Oak, Md.

“To promote local innovation and entrepreneurship, we need to leverage our resources, and ARL is one of our region’s truly outstanding assets,” said MCEDC CEO David Petr. “ARL has a strong history of partnerships with both academia and industry and has been an ardent supporter of technology transfer to the private sector.”

The workshop will be held at ETC’s TechFire® incubator facility to provide private sector partners with the opportunity to learn about the business support services available to entrepreneurs, technology start -ups, and small businesses. ARL’s researchers will present their work related to 3-D holographic and polarimetric imaging, micro-robotics/micro-actuators, cold spray technologies, moving target detectors, and other technologies available for commercialization. In addition, representatives from state-wide organizations will discuss mentoring, funding, and networking opportunities available to technology start- ups across Maryland.

“ETC is excited to host networking events like this that are critical to both the region and to the mission of organizations like ARL”, said Bob Kavetsky, ETC CEO.
